Quantity Surveyor (Marine)
About this job
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor with a strong marine background to manage cost estimation, tendering, contract administration, and project cost control for marine projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates, quotations, and tender submissions for marine projects.
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and contract requirements to ensure accurate pricing and compliance with project requirements.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers to support project costing and procurement activities.
- Prepare cost breakdowns and Bills of Quantities (BOQ), where applicable.
- Administer contracts, including the preparation and evaluation of variation orders, progress claims, and final accounts.
- Monitor project progress and costs throughout the project lifecycle, maintain accurate cost records, and recommend cost control measures where necessary.
- Conduct site visits to assess ongoing work and ensure that costs are aligned with project scope.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers on contractual and cost-related matters.
- Prepare periodic cost reports and provide commercial updates to support project execution.
- Ensure tendering, costing, and contract administration activities are carried out in accordance with project specifications, contractual requirements, company procedures, and established marine industry practices.
- Other relevant Quantity Surveyor duties as assigned
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 – 4 years of relevant experience, preferably in the marine, shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore, or marine engineering industry.
- Good understanding of contract administration, project costing, and commercial practices within the marine industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Able to work independently and meet project deadlines.
