Job description:
Responsible in assessing, planning and delivery of speech therapy services to routine patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The Speech Therapist may work in the area of general rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation and dementia care settings.
In addition, the Speech Therapist will be working in a multidisciplinary team and caregivers to deliver quality care to patients.
A. Clinical Excellence
1. Conduct assessment and intervention of simple routine patients in the area of swallow and communication
2. Plan functional goals in collaboration with caregivers and stakeholders' accordance to SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Timely) goals.
3. Recommend appropriate intervention and deliver intervention based on patients’ needs.
4. Deliver intervention(s) as required.
5. Select and track outcome measures.
6. Modify therapy tasks based on outcome measures to ensure maximum participation of patients in therapy.
7. Regular review of planned goals and modification of goals in accordance of SMART goals to ensure effective therapy is being delivered.
8. Plan future follow up or discharge from ST services based on patients’ performance.
9. Conduct relevant caregiver training effectively to stakeholders to ensure patients care is carried out at home.
B. Stakeholder’s Engagement
1. Communicate with caregivers, patients and multidisciplinary teams of assessment, planned goals and therapy outcomes.
2. Motivate patients to ensure maximum participation in therapy tasks.
3. Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings.
4. Assist in conducting clinical education to undergraduate Allied Health students and general public.
5. Advocate Speech Therapy services to the general public.
C. Education
1. Actively participates in own professional learning.
2. Responsible in maintaining, tracking and submitting own CPE points in for the purpose of license renewal.
3. Adoption of new technology and / therapy techniques to ensure skills remain relevant.
4. Participates in department QI projects.
D. Administration
1. Adhere to work and safety protocols.
2. Assist in conducting department quality audit.
3. Participates in department projects.
4. Maintain inventory checks.
5. Be involved in department resource building.
Salary Range: $4000-$6800

Working hours: 42.5 hours per week
