Medical Underwriter (6 Months Contract, Insurance Ops/Employee Benefits admin welcome, $5.8k) (ID: 704870)

Responsibilities:

• Understand how product benefit design, policy wording, and application forms translate into underwriting criteria
• Review and underwrite new, renewal, and endorsement applications for individual, family, and group international private medical insurance policies.
• Assess medical histories, pre-existing conditions, and supporting documentation to determine appropriate risk decisions.
• Meet TAT targets to ensure timely replies and good customer experience.
• Analyse and interpret medical reports, test results, and physician statements.
• Manage complex cases end-to-end, including requests for additional information and escalations.
• Maintain accurate underwriting records and documentation.
• Strictly observe and comply with all data protection regulations including PDPA, GDPR, and other relevant compliance requirements when handling medical and personal information.
• Collate and submit monthly reports on cases completed by the team, outstanding cases, TAT performance and other key metrics.
• Support handover at the end of the contract.

Requirement:

• Undergraduate degree in Health, Healthcare, Health Science, Life Sciences or related medical/clinical discipline
• Proven capability to independently underwrite complex medical cases involving multiple conditions.
• Strong track record of consistently achieving TAT targets in a production environment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, common diseases, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures.
• Solid understanding of medical underwriting principles, risk assessment methods, and international health insurance products.
• Familiarity with global healthcare systems and regional medical practices.
• Proficient in internal underwriting systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Quick learner adept at building good working relationships within a team and contributing to team deliverables.
