Job Summary
The Payment & FX Operations Specialist is responsible for processing cross-border payment and foreign exchange transactions, communicating with customers, liquidity providers and payment partners, maintaining accurate transaction records, and handling transaction exceptions, funding issues and settlement discrepancies.
The role works closely with Operations, Finance, Compliance and IT in a fast-changing industry where technology, products and regulatory requirements are constantly evolving.
Key Responsibilities
* Process cross-border payment and FX transactions, including currency conversion, payout and settlement.
* Verify incoming funds, customer instructions, FX rates, fees, beneficiary details, payment purposes and supporting documents.
* Obtain FX quotations from liquidity providers, communicate rates, confirm orders and arrange transaction execution and settlement.
* Communicate with customers, liquidity providers, banks and payment partners regarding transaction requirements, funding, execution and settlement status.
* Manage multi-currency balances, calculate funding requirements and arrange fund transfers or prefunding when required.
* Record and update transactions accurately in the company’s operational and payment systems.
* Prepare payment instructions, invoices, settlement schedules, transaction reports and supporting records.
* Perform bank, partner and system reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and resolve transaction exceptions.
* Work with Finance and Compliance to maintain accurate accounting records, support regulatory requirements and follow internal controls and recordkeeping procedures.
* Review and improve operational workflows, procedures and controls to increase efficiency and reduce operational risk.
* Work with IT and external vendors to support system enhancements, migration, automation and integration based on operational requirements.
* Support UAT and the operational implementation of new products, payment channels and system changes in response to evolving technology, business and regulatory requirements.
* Perform other duties and travel occasionally as required.
## Requirements
* Minimum bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Business, Economics or a related discipline.
* Minimum three years of relevant experience in cross-border payments, FX operations, remittance, banking, treasury operations or a related financial-services role.
* Solid understanding of FX operations, exchange-rate calculations, spreads, currency conversion, liquidity management and settlement processes.
* Proficient knowledge of accounting principles, transaction recording, bank reconciliation and financial documentation.
* Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, data analysis and reconciliation.
* Experience using financial, payment or transaction-processing systems.
* Excellent written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese, as the role requires regular communication with English- and Chinese-speaking customers and business partners.
* Strong numerical, analytical, organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
* Able to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple time-sensitive transactions and priorities.
* Able to manage operational responsibilities independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Able to adapt quickly to changes in technology, products, business requirements and regulations.
* Able to adapt quickly to an AI-enabled working environment and use new digital tools effectively while observing confidentiality and data-security requirements.
* Open to taking on ad hoc responsibilities and travelling occasionally when required.
* High level of integrity, accountability and confidentiality.
