Infrastructure Engineer (12 Months Contract)

Job Description

1. MariaDB Development and Maintenance services
2. Provision and manage MariaDB/MySQL database instances
3. Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
4. Setting up Master-Slave replication, Multi-Master replication, backup, point in time recovery, high available configurations and disaster recovery in a complex and dynamic production environment Prepare documentations and specifications
5. Maintaining production, UAT and dev databases without outage
6. Monitor and optimize database performance and SQL statements
7. Develop and maintain Linux shell scripts for database maintenance and automation
8. Add recommendations on architecture/design decisions that will ensure optimal application performance with MySQL/MariaDB
9. Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

Job Requirements:

1. Strong proficiency in MariaDB or MySQL database management
2. Minimum 8 years of experience in MariaDB or MySQL database administration
3. Understanding of MySQL’s underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM
4. Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL or MariaDB
5. Familiarity with other databases such as PostgreSQL/EDB, MS SQL will be an added advantage
6. Knowledge of limitations in MySQL/MariaDB and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases
7. Hands on Experience of MariaDB Maxscale HA
8. Basic knowledge of Linux operating system (RedHat) and basic commands
9. Highly coachable and willingness to learn
10. Strong communication skills, team player
