Data Center Operator

We are seeking a highly motivated Data Centre Operator to support the delivery of Data Centre Operations Management Services across our client environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of data centre facilities, maintaining physical security controls, managing assets and backup media, and supporting incident management activities.

This role is ideal for individuals with hands-on data centre operations experience who enjoy working in a mission-critical environment and are comfortable with shift-based operations.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Management

• Monitor and support data centre infrastructure, including power, cooling, cabling, fire detection, and suppression systems.
• Conduct routine inspections and ensure the cleanliness and operational readiness of the data centre.
• Report abnormalities, facility issues, and policy violations promptly.
• Support maintenance, servicing, repair, and upgrade activities for data centre facilities.

Physical Access & Security

• Manage physical access to data centres and equipment racks in accordance with security policies.
• Maintain physical key control and access records.
• Monitor and escalate suspicious activities, security incidents, or policy breaches.

Asset Management

• Track and maintain inventory records for all data centre assets throughout their lifecycle.
• Ensure secure storage and handling of IT assets, storage devices, and backup media.
• Support asset audits, stock verification, and disposal activities.

Backup Media Management

• Coordinate with external vendors for off-site storage and retrieval of backup media.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and manage damaged or faulty media.
• Prepare and submit monthly backup media inventory reports.

Incident & Problem Management

• Respond to incidents and escalate according to defined procedures and severity levels.
• Provide timely updates to stakeholders until resolution.
• Support service recovery activities and incident investigations.

Compliance & Audit Support

• Ensure adherence to company policies, security standards, and operational procedures.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Assist with remediation activities arising from audit findings.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in data centre operations.
• Experience in incident management, vendor coordination, and facility operations within a data centre environment.

Preferred Certifications

• Data Centre Foundation Certificate (DCFC) or equivalent.
• ITIL Foundation Certification.

Working Hours & Requirements

• Able to work on rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Willing to be on standby and contactable for operational support and escalation when required.
• Comfortable working at client sites based on project assignment.
