Responsibilities:
Manage the timely and accurate month-end closing of accounts for assigned vessels.
Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all vessel-related expenses, accruals, and prepayments are accurately recorded.
Prepare comprehensive financial statements and schedules for each vessel.
Establish and maintain the chart of accounts and manage financial master data in the relevant accounting systems.
Collaborate with chartering, operations, and technical managers to formulate annual operating cashflow budgets for each vessel.
Conduct variance analysis by reviewing and explaining significant deviations between actual expenditures and budgeted forecasts monthly.
Monitor vessel cash flows to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational costs.
Track and account for charter hire, voyage revenue, and related expenses.
Review, verify, and process supplier invoices, ensuring correct cost allocation to specific vessels.
Manage intercompany transactions and recharges related to vessels.
Oversee billing of management fees and commissions to vessels.
Monitor and update incoming payments from charterers to ensure accurate and timely entries in the accounting systems.
Ensure compliance with international maritime financial regulations and local statutory requirements.
Perform various office-related administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA) are highly advantageous.
Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the shipping or maritime industry.
Strong experience in marine accounting and familiarity with relevant accounting software are highly advantageous.
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including skills in VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
Good understanding of maritime accounting principles, including charter hires, ship OPEX, and voyage accounting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional technical and operational teams.
Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
