About this job

Senior/Engineer —Stormwater Digital Solutions & Products

Company: Flexi Systems (Singapore) Pte Ltd

Location: Singapore

Type: Full-time, permanent

Reports to: Head of Business Development

About the role

Flexi Systems is a Singapore-based engineering and water-technology company specialising in integrated environmental and digital solutions for stormwater treatment and erosion control management applications. We provide system design, equipment supply, installation, maintenance, and data-driven monitoring solutions that support regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and sustainable water management across infrastructure and construction projects.

We are entering a period of significant change: a ground-up redesign of our core product range, and the build-out of a digital layer around it — a stormwater intelligence platform that turns installed assets into live data, and a new ERP system to run the business behind it.

We are looking for one engineer to sit at the centre of both. This is a hybrid role for someone who is genuinely strong in engineering and comfortable specifying, scoping and driving digital projects with external developers. If you have spent years designing physical systems but find yourself increasingly drawn to what data and software could do for them, this role is built for you.

What you will do

Digital & technology

Two flagship builds sit within this half of the role: the stormwater intelligence platform (turning installed assets into live monitoring, maintenance scheduling, event-based performance reporting and compliance evidence) and a new ERP system(quotations, project delivery, procurement, inventory, service and finance interfaces). You will be the technical owner of both, working with external development partners and vendors rather than writing production code yourself —though you should be able to read it, question it, and prototype with it.

System architecture

  • Define the target-state architecture across both platforms: how field devices, the intelligence platform, the ERP, CAD/engineering tools and reporting layers fit together, and where the single source of truth sits for each data domain.
  • Specify the instrumentation and telemetry layer — sensor selection, edge devices, connectivity, data capture frequency and payload structure.
  • Make and document the build-versus-buy, hosting, security and scalability decisions, and set the non-functional requirements (uptime, latency, data retention, access control, backup and recovery).
  • Design for the field realities of our assets: intermittent connectivity, power constraints, harsh environments and long asset lifecycles.

API & systems integration

  • Own the integration map between the intelligence platform, the ERP and any third-party systems (accounting, e-invoicing, client or authority portals, contractor and maintenance systems).
  • Specify API contracts, data schemas, authentication and error handling; review vendor-proposed interfaces rather than accepting them as given.
  • Define master data structures and the rules governing how records flow between systems, so that an asset, a project and a customer mean the same thing everywhere.
  • Plan and oversee data migration from existing spreadsheets and legacy records, including cleansing, mapping and reconciliation.

AI, process automation &workflow

  • Map existing engineering, sales, project and service workflows end to end, identify the friction, and redesign before automating.
  • Identify and implement practical automation: quotation and proposal generation, document and drawing handling, data extraction from tender documents and site reports, maintenance triggers, alerting and escalation, routine reporting.
  • Evaluate and deploy AI tooling where it earns its place — anomaly detection in sensor data, predictive maintenance signals, document intelligence, internal knowledge assistants — with clear judgement about accuracy, cost and where a human must stay in the loop.
  • Establish sensible governance around AI use: data handling, confidentiality, and how outputs are checked before they reach a client.

Data & analytics

  • Define the data model and reporting requirements across both platforms, and the KPIs the business should be run on.
  • Build or commission dashboards and reports for internal management, and client-facing performance and compliance reporting.
  • Turn field and platform data back into product insight — feeding real installed-asset performance into the engineering redesign work in the first half of this role.
  • Set data quality standards and monitor them.

Vendor management

  • Run the selection process for platform, ERP, hardware and integration vendors: requirements documents, RFPs, structured evaluation, reference checks and commercial comparison.
  • Negotiate and manage scopes of work, milestones, SLAs, support arrangements and licensing; hold vendors to schedule, budget and quality.
  • Serve as the day-to-day technical counterpart to development partners — running sprint reviews or progress checkpoints, resolving ambiguity quickly, and preventing scope drift in both directions.
  • Guard against lock-in: ensure we retain our data, our source code rights where applicable, and the ability to change partners.

Knowledge transfer & adoption

  • Train internal users and build genuine adoption — a system nobody uses is a failed project regardless of how well it was built.
  • Structure vendor engagements so that knowledge transfers to the company: handover requirements, documentation deliverables and internal capability-building written into the contract.
  • Develop internal champions across engineering, operations, sales and finance, and support them after go-live.
  • Feed learnings from each rollout into how the next one is run.

Product redesign

After looking at the technology build, you will also work with the Head of Business Development on the technical redesign of Flexi Systems' stormwater treatment product range —improving performance, treatment efficiency, manufacturability, installation time and whole-life cost. There will be a need to review current designs against field performance data, client feedback and evolving regulatory requirements (PUB Code of Practice, and equivalent standards in our regional markets). You will be required to produce and control design calculations, drawings and work with fabricators and suppliers on prototyping, tooling, material selection and cost engineering.

What we are looking for

Essential

- Degree in Information Systems, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).

- Working knowledge of CFD, hydrological/hydraulic modelling, or CAD/3D design tools.

- Ability to read data and write light scripts (SQL, Python) — not to build the platform, but to interrogate it, prototype ideas and check a vendor's work.

- Familiarity with software delivery frameworks (agile/sprint-based delivery, requirements traceability, change control) from the client side of the table.

- Delivered at least one significant digital or systems implementation — writing the requirements, choosing the vendor, defining the architecture or integrations, testing the build and getting it adopted.

- Mature understanding of how modern systems fit together: APIs and data exchange, databases and data models, cloud hosting, authentication and access control, and the basics of software delivery and testing practice, holding development partner(s) to an acceptance criterion.

- Strong grasp of hydraulics and treatment fundamentals — flow control, hydrodynamic separation, filtration and media performance, sediment and gross pollutant capture.

- Comfortable being the bridge between technical, commercial and operational teams, and able to explain either domain to people who do not work in it.

Advantageous

- Chartered status or Professional Engineer registration.

- Familiarity with Singapore requirements and regional stormwater regulations.

- At least 5 years' experience in storm water treatment, water management or a closely related field.

- Demonstrated experience taking a design from concept through prototyping to manufacture or construction.

- Hands-on use of dash boarding tools, and of AI tooling applied to real business processes rather than as a demo.

- Prior involvement in an IoT, SCADA, telemetry or asset-monitoring deployment.

How you work

- Self-directed. This role has breadth and ambiguity; you will need to set priorities rather than wait for them.

- Practical. You are as willing to be on site or on a factory floor as in a requirements workshop.

- Commercially aware. You understand that a redesign has to sell, install and be maintained, not just perform.

What we offer

- A rare scope: ownership of both a physical product line and the digital systems being built around it.

- Direct influence on company strategy at a genuine inflection point, with short reporting lines to senior management.

- Exposure across Singapore and regional markets.

To apply

Send your CV and a short note covering (a) a product or system you designed and what you would change about it now, and (b) a digital or systems project you helped bring in, to [email protected].
