About this job

Who We’re Looking For

You are as comfortable refining a long-form profile as you are spotting the next beauty obsession, interviewing a major personality, or brainstorming an idea for social. You have strong opinions about what makes a good story, but you are equally capable of listening, collaborating, and making someone else’s work better.

Most importantly, you understand that ELLE is more than a fashion magazine. You are interested in the way women live now—the people they follow, the products they covet, the places they travel to, the culture they consume, and the ideas shaping the way they see the world.

ELLE Singapore

ELLE Singapore is looking for an experienced, versatile, and culturally curious Deputy Editor to join its editorial team.

Working closely with the Editor-in-Chief (EIC), the Deputy Editor will play a key role in shaping ELLE Singapore’s editorial direction across print, digital, social, and special projects. The ideal candidate is a strong editor and writer with a keen understanding of fashion, beauty, lifestyle, entertainment, and contemporary culture, as well as an instinct for the stories, personalities, and conversations that matter to ELLE’s audience.

This is a senior editorial position suited to someone who can move confidently between big-picture thinking and day-to-day execution—from developing story ideas and commissioning features to editing copy, managing contributors, and ensuring the magazine maintains a consistently high editorial standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the EIC to develop and execute ELLE Singapore’s editorial vision across all its platforms.

  • Generate compelling story ideas and strengthen its pillars, especially in beauty, culture and lifestyle sections, while identifying emerging trends, products, and experiences.

  • Commission, write, and edit features, interviews, profiles, news stories, and branded editorial content in a timely manner and within budget.

  • Identify relevant local, regional, and international personalities for interviews, profiles, shoots, and digital content.

  • Work with the art team closely to oversee the production of the magazine from conception through to publication.

  • Represent ELLE Singapore at launches, press events, interviews, industry functions, and international media trips where required.

  • Support the EIC in managing editorial schedules, deadlines, workflows, and the wider editorial team.

  • Step in for the Editor when required and provide leadership and editorial decision-making across the team.

Requirements

  • At least five years of editorial experience, preferably within the beauty, lifestyle, luxury, culture, or a related media environment.

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating excellent writing, editing, interviewing, and storytelling skills.

  • A genuine interest in beauty and lifestyle, alongside a strong awareness of fashion and contemporary culture.

  • Strong editorial judgement and an excellent command of written and spoken English, with meticulous attention to grammar, accuracy, tone, and detail.

  • Experience in managing a team commissioning and editing writers, as well as managing multiple stories and deadlines simultaneously.

  • A good understanding of how editorial storytelling translates across print, web, video, and social media.

  • Highly organised, collaborative, resourceful, and comfortable working in a fast-paced publishing environment. Must be able to multitask.
