The Research Associate is a member of the Research team providing day-to-day administrative support and coordinating of research operation roles

Responsibilities

Support the Research Unit in our research and evaluation work including but not limited to:

  • Administrative support for research projects, such as assisting in the recruitment of study subjects, coordinating study visits, managing participant reimbursement.

  • Preparation of research project’s supplies or equipment prior to study visits to ensure the appropriate items are available when necessary.

  • Conduct basic research activities such as literature review, note-taking during interviews/FGDs, transcribing data, cleaning/ coding of data.

  • Assist in preparing simple reports such as feedback reports.

  • Act as secretariat for the Unit’s various functions, such as research committee secretariat, research and advocacy standing committee secretariat, ethics secretariat and evaluation secretariat.

  • Organize and schedule research department meetings, manage agendas, and take minutes.

  • Assist in the administration of the John M. Elliott Memorial Research Grant.

  • Assist in the administration of our research newsletter.

  • Assist in updating the Research Unit’s standard operating procedures.

  • To assist or organise events as required e.g. annual lecture, workshops, evaluation festival, team bonding etc.

  • To support the team in administrative tasks such as RFPs, PDPA checks, etc.

  • Support the Unit’s efforts in Knowledge Management, such as working with centres to consolidate documents required.

  • Coordinate DIK (Donation-In-Kind) items and volunteers.

  • Undertake any other duties as may from time to time reasonably be requested by the research department.

Requirements

  • An interest in research, programme evaluation, and the social service sector

  • A diploma in psychology or other related fields

  • Past experience working in social service agencies or research institutes will be an added advantage

  • Shows excellent time management skill and ability to multi-task and prioritize work

  • Able to pay attention to detail and problem-solving skill

  • Able to demonstrate strong organizational and planning skill

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft forms, google drive and file sharing

  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of team

  • Ability to relate to staff in a collegial manner

  • Able to commit to a one-year contract role, with opportunity to convert to a permanent position based on performance and organisational needs
