Kitchen Assistant

Job Summary

Join Meating Place as a Kitchen Assistant to prepare ingredients, support the kitchen team, and maintain cleanliness while developing your culinary skills in a friendly environment.

Responsibilities

• Wash, peel, cut, and prepare vegetables, meat, and other ingredients to support kitchen operations
• Prepare ingredients before service (mise en place) to ensure smooth kitchen workflow
• Assemble simple dishes following established recipes to assist cooks during service
• Clean kitchen counters, tools, and equipment after every shift to maintain hygiene standards
• Store food correctly and inspect stock freshness to prevent spoilage and ensure quality
• Follow food safety and hygiene rules to maintain a safe kitchen environment
• Assist cooks and kitchen team with additional kitchen duties as needed to support daily operations

Required competencies and certifications

• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate to comply with food safety regulations

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Basic knife cutting skills including cutting, chopping, and slicing to prepare ingredients efficiently
• Ability to communicate in basic spoken English to coordinate with team members
• Willingness to learn and consistently give best effort during shifts
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Availability to work weekends and public holidays to meet operational needs
