About the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT)

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore brings together physicists, computer scientists and engineers to do basic research on quantum physics and to build devices based on quantum phenomena. Experts in this new discipline of quantum technologies are applying their discoveries in computing, communications, and sensing.
CQT is hosted by the National University of Singapore. The Centre also has staff at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and the Singapore University of Technology and Design. Job Description

We have an opening for a research associate specialising in the design and fabrication of superconducting devices for the detection of levitating superconducting sensors. The applicant will lead the development of new superconducting devices and of its application to quantum measurements. The successful candidate will also work closely with the PI to develop future experimental goals and shape the general research direction of the group. There will be ample opportunities to explore personal ideas and participate in grant-writing processes. We aim to provide a challenging and supportive environment to nurture research leadership skills and readiness for a high-level career in academia or in the quantum industry.

The open position is extremely well funded by Singapore’s ambitious Quantum Engineering Programme and Competitive Research Programme. The PI hold the Presidential Young Professorship and their laboratories are funded under the National Research Fellowship, which offers long-term funding prospects.

The candidate should posses the following skills in:

  • Electron-beam lithography
  • Metal deposition
  • Dry and wet etching
  • Low-noise microwave measurements
  • Operation of cryogenic equipment
  • Mechanical assembly for RF devices
  • Josephson junction fabrication
  • A strong foundation in quantum mechanics
  • Effective communication
  • Leadership experience
