Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – AML /KYC to lead and deliver complex AML, KYC, Financial Crime, and regulatory transformation projects within a banking or financial services environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end project delivery, including planning, governance, stakeholder management, risk and issue management, vendor coordination, technology implementation, testing, migration, and production deployment. The role requires strong knowledge of AML, KYC, CDD/EDD, Sanctions/Name Screening, Transaction Monitoring, and banking operations.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Delivery
- Manage end-to-end delivery of AML/KYC projects from initiation through implementation and closure.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, dependencies, and success criteria.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, resource plans, and delivery roadmaps.
- Ensure projects are delivered within agreed scope, budget, timeline, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish project governance, reporting structures, delivery methodology, and controls.
- Coordinate multiple workstreams across Business, Compliance, Operations, Technology, Risk, Data, and third-party vendors.
- Track project progress against key milestones and provide regular status reporting to senior management.
- Manage project dependencies across internal and external teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve delivery efficiency and streamline AML/KYC processes.
AML / KYC Domain Responsibilities
- Provide strong project-level understanding of AML, KYC, and Financial Crime processes.
- Lead projects involving:
- Know Your Customer (KYC)
- Customer Due Diligence (CDD)
- Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD)
- Customer Risk Rating
- Sanctions / Name Screening
- Transaction Monitoring
- AML Case Management
- Adverse Media Screening
- Periodic KYC Reviews
- KYC Remediation / Customer Data Refresh
- Financial Crime regulatory initiatives
- Work closely with Compliance and Financial Crime teams to translate regulatory requirements into project deliverables.
- Ensure regulatory, compliance, risk, and audit requirements are incorporated into project scope and implementation.
- Support remediation programmers arising from regulatory findings, audits, risk assessments, or compliance reviews.
- Ensure appropriate controls are established to manage AML/KYC operational and technology risks.
- Act as the primary project contact for business and technology stakeholders.
- Manage relationships with senior stakeholders, Compliance, Financial Crime, Operations, Technology, Risk, Legal, Data, and external vendors.
- Work closely with Solution Architects, Business Analysts, System Analysts, Developers, Data teams, and Technology leads.
- Coordinate implementation of AML/KYC technology solutions and system enhancements.
- Ensure integration requirements, data dependencies, interfaces, and downstream impacts are appropriately managed.
- Coordinate system upgrades, platform implementations, migrations, and regulatory technology changes.
- Ensure technical deliverables remain aligned with approved business and regulatory requirements.
- Manage third-party technology vendors and implementation partners where applicable.
- Coordinate SIT, UAT, regression testing, and business validation activities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Master's degree or relevant professional qualification is advantageous.
- Project Management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent is preferred.
Essential Experience
- 10+ years of overall experience in project/programme management, preferably within banking or financial services.
- Significant experience delivering AML/KYC/Financial Crime projects.
- Strong banking experience with exposure to Compliance, Risk, Operations, or Financial Crime functions.
- Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional technology transformation projects.
- Experience managing projects from initiation through design, development, testing, implementation, and closure.
- Strong experience in stakeholder management at business and senior management levels.
- Proven experience managing project risks, issues, dependencies, budgets, timelines, and scope.
- Experience working with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, Technology teams, Operations, Compliance, and vendors.
- Experience supporting SIT, UAT, migration, cutover, and production implementation.
