Principal Software Development Engineer

Job Description:

The Software Development Engineering job family designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for enhancements to existing and new applications/systems used in local, networked, mobile, cloud-based or web-based computer programs for purposes of commercialization. Using current programming language and technologies, uses code to modify existing software applications to add new functions, adapt to new hardware, improve performance or enhance usability.

• Partners with Product, Marketing, Sales, Customer Support and other engineering functions to ensure every aspect of a product is taken into consideration during design and development
• Analyzes requirements, tests and integrates application components and ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented
• Applies broad expertise and knowledge in a highly specialized field, or multiple related disciplines
• Owns medium to large platform initiatives, providing technical leadership as the primary technical contact, owning design and implementation of features to drive success
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to capture requirements and enable successful adoption for new products and features
• Provides technical leadership by proposing new approaches and technologies and driving the due diligence process to determine viability
• Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles
