Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer (System) to support the design, development, maintenance and delivery of enterprise software solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with users, development teams and stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-volume and performance-intensive software solutions supporting an Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather and analyse business and system requirements.
• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain software applications throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Prepare and maintain SDLC deliverables, including Business Rules, Software Requirements Specifications, Software Architecture Documents, Design Specifications, Interface Specifications, source code, testing specifications, operation and maintenance manuals, training materials and other required technical documentation.
• Provide day-to-day application support and assist with troubleshooting and resolution of production issues.
• Liaise with users and stakeholders on requirements, system design and testing matters.
• Collaborate with back-office development teams to deliver software solutions.
• Design and deliver high-volume, performance-intensive software solutions for back-office components of an AFC system.
• Contribute to software modernisation, containerisation, microservices and continuous integration initiatives.
• Support database design, development and performance tuning.
• Apply software engineering best practices to ensure system reliability, scalability and maintainability.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in at least one complete Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including preparation of SDLC-related documentation.
• Strong hands-on experience in requirements analysis, software design, development and delivery of complex enterprise applications.
• Experience with Java/JEE and web application development in UNIX/Linux and Windows environments.
• Experience in web-based application development and database integration using technologies such as JDBC and SQL.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and continuous integration.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Experience in software modernisation, containerisation and microservices architecture.
• Experience with Message Queues; experience with Solace is an advantage.
• Experience with Cloud Computing, Kubernetes and Docker.
• Experience with AWS services such as Amazon ECS/Fargate, Amazon RDS and AWS Lambda is an advantage.
• Experience in database design, development and performance tuning.
• Experience with Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) systems is an advantage.
• Knowledge or experience with EMV and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
