Reinforcing Iron Worker

A Reinforcing Iron Worker is responsible for installing, placing, tying, and securing reinforcing steel (rebar) used in concrete structures. The role involves reading construction drawings, measuring and cutting steel, assembling reinforcement cages, and ensuring all reinforcement is installed according to project specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and rebar schedules.
- Measure, cut, bend, and position reinforcing steel according to specifications.
- Install and tie rebar using hand tools and power tools.
- Assemble reinforcing steel cages and structures for foundations, columns, beams, slabs, walls, and other concrete elements.
- Use measuring tools to ensure correct spacing, alignment, elevations, and dimensions.
- Secure reinforcement using tie wire, chairs, spacers, and other supports.
- Assist with the loading, unloading, and movement of reinforcing steel on construction sites.
- Work with concrete workers, steel fixers, supervisors, and other construction personnel.
- Inspect installed reinforcement to ensure compliance with drawings and project requirements.
- Maintain tools and equipment and keep the work area clean and organized.
- Follow all site safety procedures, PPE requirements, and construction regulations.
- Perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, climbing, and working at heights when required.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a reinforcing iron worker, rebar worker, steel fixer, or similar construction role
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings is preferred.
- Knowledge of rebar sizes, spacing, placement, and tying methods.
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
- Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
