Dog Shelter Assistant (1 year contract)

• Clean and wash dog kennels to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
• Walk dogs alongside volunteers, ensuring they receive regular exercise and enrichment.
• Assist with basic medical care, including applying topical medications, administering eye drops, and cleaning wounds under guidance.
• Spend dedicated time with dogs that are learning to trust and socialize with people.
• Provide administrative support as required.
• Assist in bringing dogs to veterinary appointments when needed.
• Support veterinary house calls at the shelter.
• Carry out other shelter-related duties as reasonably assigned.

5 day work week (Flexible and negotiable)
10.30am-7pm
Able to start within 2026

We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Has a genuine love for dogs and animal welfare.
• Is comfortable working in a physically active, hands-on environment.
• Is patient, responsible, and able to remain calm around dogs with different temperaments.
• Is willing to learn and follow animal handling and care protocols.
• Can work independently as well as collaboratively with staff and volunteers.
• Has basic computer skills for administrative tasks.
• A valid driving licence is an advantage but not essential.
