Teochew Kueh Apprentice

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable Kueh Apprentice to learn and prepare Teochew Kuehs. You will cook and prepare all Kueh dough and ingredients, maintain kitchen cleanliness, and ensure consistent quality for customers.

Responsibilities

Food Preparation:

• Prepare Kueh ingredients by cutting, washing, and peeling to meet recipe standards
• Cook Kueh skin/dough and fillings such as glutinous rice, turnips, yam, bamboo shoots, chives, dousha, and peanut according to company recipes
• Monitor daily stock levels of Kueh dough and fillings to fulfill all orders
• Mould Kuehs, steam, and pack retail and take-out orders accurately
• Assist in other kitchen areas as assigned

Station Setup & Maintenance:

• Organize and prepare the Kueh kitchen, station, ingredients, and utensils before peak hours
• Replenish ingredients regularly to ensure smooth service delivery

Kitchen Hygiene:

• Maintain strict cleanliness by washing cooking equipment, clearing trash, and sanitizing countertops

Safety & Compliance:

• Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety regulations consistently

Required competencies and certifications

• Hold a valid WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1 certification
• Demonstrate basic cooking skills to prepare Kuehs safely and effectively
• Speak Mandarin to communicate within the team and follow instructions

Other Information

• Working schedule: 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday and Public Holidays, 7am to 4pm, rest on Sundays
• Meals provided during working hours
