Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Gasoline Trader to join our trading team in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing the company’s gasoline trading activities, identifying profitable trading opportunities, managing customer and supplier relationships, and executing physical trades while effectively managing market, credit and operational risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute physical gasoline trading strategies across regional and international markets.
- Identify trading opportunities through analysis of market fundamentals, supply and demand, pricing trends, refinery economics and regional trade flows.
- Source gasoline from refiners, producers and trading counterparties and develop sales opportunities with end-users, distributors and other trading companies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, brokers and other market participants.
- Negotiate commercial terms including pricing, volume, delivery terms, payment terms and contractual conditions.
- Manage the complete trading cycle from deal origination and execution through delivery and settlement, working closely with Operations, Finance and Risk teams.
- Monitor gasoline prices, cracks, spreads, freight economics and relevant market developments to support trading decisions.
- Manage trading positions and exposure within the company’s approved risk limits and trading policies.
- Work with the operations team on cargo scheduling, nominations, vessel arrangements, documentation and other logistical requirements.
- Coordinate with Finance and Trade Finance teams on LCs, payment terms, credit limits, receivables and financing requirements.
- Conduct appropriate counterparty and credit assessments in coordination with the relevant internal teams.
- Ensure all transactions comply with the company’s KYC, compliance, sanctions and internal risk-management requirements.
- Maintain accurate trading records and provide regular updates on positions, P&L, market developments and trading opportunities to management.
- Support the expansion of the company’s gasoline trading portfolio and development of new markets, customers and supply channels.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, International Trading, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in gasoline, refined petroleum products or physical oil trading.
- Good understanding of the gasoline market, pricing mechanisms, specifications, supply chains and international trade flows.
- Existing network of gasoline suppliers, customers and industry counterparties will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with international trading terms, including Incoterms, pricing formulas, contracts, shipping and trade finance instruments.
- Strong commercial judgement, negotiation and analytical skills.
- Ability to evaluate market opportunities and make timely trading decisions in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong understanding of trading risk, credit exposure and commercial risk management.
- Good communication and relationship-management skills.
- Proficient in English; additional languages relevant to key Asian markets will be an advantage.
Preferred Experience
- Experience trading gasoline within Asia-Pacific and/or international markets.
- Familiarity with major pricing benchmarks and price-reporting agencies such as Platts/S&P Global Commodity Insights and Argus.
- Experience working with oil majors, national oil companies, refiners and established commodity trading houses.
- Knowledge of physical cargo economics, blending, product specifications and marine logistics would be advantageous.
