Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Research Scientist (SRS) to join Dr Anothony Khong's Lab at the Cancer Science Institute (CSI), National University of Singapore. The lab is dedicated to understanding the fundamental mechanisms underlying RNA therapeutics, with a particular focus on how RNA-based drugs escape from endolysosomes. The SRS will lead a project centred on performing image-based arrayed CRISPR screens and dissecting protein pathways involved in endolysosome rupture caused by lipid nanoparticles. The role requires extensive molecular biology expertise and the ability to integrate advanced techniques such as CRISPR screening and proteomics. This position is ideal for an independent scientist with strong experimental skills, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for advancing RNA therapeutics research. The candidate will contribute both technically and conceptually, working closely with the Principal Investigator to drive high-impact discoveries.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Experimental Design & Execution

- Lead molecular and cellular biology experiments to investigate how RNA therapeutics escape endolysosomes.

- Develop and apply advanced methods including genome-wide CRISPR screening, proteomics, and high-resolution imaging.

2. Intellectual Contribution

- Contribute actively to project direction through hypothesis generation, experimental design, and data interpretation.

- Draft manuscripts, reports, and contribute to grant applications.

- Present findings at internal and external meetings.

3. Laboratory & Team Support

- Help maintain a well-organised and collaborative lab environment.

- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior researchers and research staff.

- Ensure compliance with institutional safety and ethical guidelines.

Requirements

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 first-author publications in peer-reviewed international journals.
  • Strong expertise in modern molecular biology techniques, including CRISPR technologies, next-generation and/or long-read sequencing, and proteomics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
