Database Administrator

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SQLServer & PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize mission-critical database environments. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL administration, database performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, security compliance, and automation.

The candidate will work closely with application teams, infrastructure teams, cloud engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure database availability, reliability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Microsoft SQL Server Administration

Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain SQLServer environments.

Manage SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Clustering, Log Shipping, Replication, and Failover strategies.

Perform database backup, recovery, refresh, and cloning activities.

Monitor database health, performance, and capacity utilization.

Troubleshoot production issues and provide root cause analysis.

Implement SQL Server security standards, auditing, and compliance controls.

PostgreSQL Administration

Install, configure, administer, and maintain PostgreSQL databases.

Manage PostgreSQL replication, streaming replication, logical replication, and high availability solutions.

Perform performance tuning of PostgreSQL databases, queries, indexes, and configurations.

Execute PostgreSQL version upgrades and migrations.

Administer PostgreSQL backup and recovery solutions.

Monitor PostgreSQL instances and proactively identify performance bottlenecks.

Performance & Capacity Management

Analyze and optimize database performance.

Identify slow-running queries and implement tuning recommendations.

Conduct index optimization and statistics maintenance.

Perform database growth forecasting and capacity planning.

Ensure optimal resource utilization across database environments.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

Design, implement, and support HA/DR architectures.

Execute disaster recovery testing and failover exercises.

Maintain and validate backup and recovery strategies.

Ensure compliance with defined RTO/RPO objectives.

Database Security & Compliance

Implement database security best practices.

Manage user access, roles, privileges, and authentication mechanisms.

Support vulnerability remediation and security audits.

Enforce encryption, password policies, and governance standards.

Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Automate repetitive DBA activities using tools suchas:

Ansible

PowerShell

Shell scripting

SQL scripting

Build automated workflows for:

Database provisioning

Backup validation

Health checks

Patching activities

Refresh and cloning operations

Production Support

Provide L3/L4 support for critical production environments.

Participate in on-call support rotation.

Support incident, problem, and change management processes.

Work closely with application and infrastructure teams during outages and major incidents.
