Job Purpose

As a member of the Commercial & Costing team, you will support the preparation of cost estimates and tender submissions for vessel construction and marine engineering projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity for fresh graduates and experienced professionals seeking to build a career in the marine and shipbuilding industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse vessel specifications, drawings, tender documents, and other technical information to understand project requirements for government and commercial tenders.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, procurement, and design teams to evaluate material, equipment, subcontractor, and labour costs.
  • Conducting research on market prices for materials, equipment, and services to ensure accurate and competitive cost estimations.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, costing schedules, and tender submissions for management review.
  • Support the evaluation of commercial risks and opportunities during the tendering process.
  • Identify potential cost-saving initiatives and value engineering opportunities while maintaining quality, safety, and operational requirements.
  • Maintain and update costing databases, historical cost records, and estimation templates.
  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to obtain pricing information and technical clarifications.
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations to support management decision-making and client discussions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance costing accuracy, efficiency, and competitiveness.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or other related disciplines.
  • Experience in costing, estimating, project engineering, procurement, shipbuilding, marine engineering, or related technical functions will be advantageous.
  • Fresh graduates with relevant qualifications and strong analytical aptitude are encouraged to apply.
  • Basic understanding of marine construction, shipbuilding processes, or engineering principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications for data analysis and cost estimation.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
  • Familiarity with marine industry regulations, classification society standards, and tendering processes will be an advantage.
