Middle office/Product Control role supporting Metal trading with an international commodity trading MNC

• 1-5 years’ work experience in Middle Office, preferably as a Market Risk/Trading/Product Control Analyst with a strong understanding of and experience in the Metals business.

• Technically competent with experience in setting up / managing risk management ETRM systems and tools.

• Familiar with back-office and middle-office processes in a commodities trading business environment.

Our client is a renowned global commodity trading MNC based in town. It offers good perks and an attractive variable bonus for good performers. The MNC is now looking to hire a hands-on middle office/product control analyst to support its oil trading (physical and paper) business. The firm’s employees work 100% in the office (based in town).

The Middle Officer is responsible for timely trade captures, correct risk exposure and PnL reporting. The role also involves setting up the valuation/pricing curves and monitoring the desk’s trading limits.

Responsibilities:

• Support the business in capturing trades, reporting of risk exposures, reporting of pricing risk to traders and PnL attribution and reporting.

• Manage the risk profile of the trading business in line with the agreed appetite for risk and risk limits.

• Proactively develop and improve business processes and risk systems/functionalities in coordination with traders / IT and Chief Risk Manager.

• Develop and maintain good working relationships with the various functions within the business, including finance, trading, middle office and operations.

• Support the business to enable new products or new trading strategies.

Technical qualifications and skills:

• A degree in a numerate discipline with a financial major would be attractive, i.e. Financial Engineering etc. Further professional qualification e.g. FRM, CFA may be helpful but not essential.

• 1-5 years’ work experience in Middle Office, preferably as a Market Risk/Trading/Product Control Analyst with a strong understanding of and experience in the Metals business.

• Technically competent with experience in setting up / managing risk management ETRM systems and tools.

• Familiar with back office and middle office processes in a commodities trading business environment.

• Candidates with big 4 accounting firm experience in audit of commodities trading firm is also relevant for this role.
