Production Manager
The Production Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing all production operations within a precision engineering environment specializing in CNC milling, turning, and autolathe machining. The role drives operational excellence by ensuring high productivity, consistent quality, cost efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards.
1. Key Responsibilities
A. Production Operations Management
- Oversee daily production activities across CNC milling, CNC turning, and autolathe sections
- Plan and execute production schedules to meet delivery timelines and customer requirements
- Ensure optimal machine utilization, manpower deployment, and workflow efficiency
- Monitor KPIs such as output, OEE, cycle time, scrap rate, and on-time delivery
B. Technical Leadership (CNC Machining Environment)
- Provide strong technical oversight on CNC machining processes including:3/4/5-axis CNC millingCNC turning (Swiss-type / conventional turning)Autolathe production systems
- Ensure proper setup, tooling selection, programming standards, and process stability
- Support troubleshooting of complex machining, tooling, and process issues
- Drive process capability improvements for tight tolerance precision components
C. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to GMP, and customer quality requirements
- Work closely with QA/QC on:Non-conformance (NC) management Root cause analysis and CAPA implementation
- Maintain traceability, documentation integrity, and audit readiness
D. Continuous Improvement & Productivity
- Lead Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma initiatives to improve efficiency
- Drive cycle time reduction, cost optimization, and yield improvement
- Implement automation, digital tools (MES / ERP / Power BI dashboards) to enhance visibility and control
E. People Management & Leadership
- Manage and develop a team of supervisors, engineers, technicians, and operators
- Build a skills matrix and drive workforce multi-skilling
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and succession planning
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
F. Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs for CNC machines and autolathes
- Collaborate with maintenance/engineering teams to minimize downtime
- Ensure timely resolution of machine breakdowns and production disruptions
G. Strategic & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales teams
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and process industrialization
- Align production capacity and capability with business growth strategy
3. Job Requirements
Education
- Diploma / Degree in Precision Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Experience
- Minimum 5-8 years in precision manufacturing environment
- At least 3–5 years in a leadership/managerial role
- Proven experience managing: CNC milling operations CNC turning / Swiss turning Autolathe/high-volume machining
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge in CNC machining processes, tooling, and fixture design
- Familiarity with CNC programming principles (G-code, CAM systems)
- Experience with high precision components (tight tolerances, complex geometries)
- Understanding of MES / ERP systems and production data analytics
- Knowledge of ISO regulated manufacturing environments
