About the Team

The NUS Academy for Healthy Longevity operates as a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary research team led by Prof Andrea B. Maier. Each research project is structured with a Research Fellow as the scientific lead, supported by a Head of Research Operations who works closely with you on day-to-day research activities, and a Research Assistant to support execution. As a Research Fellow, you will lead your primary research project while also contributing your domain expertise to other ongoing studies where relevant. The broader team includes a Head of Partnerships, a procurement specialist, and a communications lead who support the team across institutional relationships, operational logistics, and scientific visibility.

About the Role

The NUS Academy for Healthy Longevity seeks an experienced Research Fellow (post-doc) with a background in biological biomarkers of ageing and translational biology. The successful candidate will lead the laboratory biomarker programme embedded within our ongoing clinical trials, bridging wet lab science and clinical research to advance our understanding of biological ageing across multiple organ systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, and validation of biological biomarker panels in clinical trial protocols, including epigenetic clocks, proteomics, metabolomics, inflammatory markers, and organ-specific ageing signatures
• Oversee biological sample collection, processing, biobanking, and quality control across all ongoing studies
• Drive translational research linking biological mechanisms of ageing to clinical outcomes, contributing to the development of novel gerodiagnostic tools
• Identify and validate new laboratory-based assessment methods for implementation in clinical studies, with a focus on scalability and clinical applicability
• Contribute to the establishment of international standards for biological ageing assessment in gerotherapeutic trials
• Supervise wet lab staff and students, manage laboratory operations, and ensure compliance with GCP and laboratory safety standards
• Lead and contribute to scientific publications and grant applications in the field of biological ageing and translational geroscience

Qualifications

• PhD in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of postdoctoral or research experience in biological ageing, omics technologies, or translational biomarker research
• Hands-on expertise in at least one of the following: epigenetics, proteomics, metabolomics, or immunology
• Experience working with human biological samples in a clinical research context
• Scientific writing is a core requirement: the candidate must have demonstrated experience leading the writing and submission of peer-reviewed manuscripts
• Proficiency in data analysis tools including R, SPSS, Python, Stata, or equivalent
• Publication record in peer-reviewed journals
• Demonstrated interest in the biology of human ageing and healthy longevity
