LIGHTING DESIGNER
About this job
About Us
We're looking for a creative, technically sharp Lighting Designer to craft the visual atmosphere for our shows and events — turning a stage into an experience.
The Role
As Lighting Designer, you'll be responsible for conceiving and developing the lighting concept for each show — working closely with artists, directors, and the production team to bring a creative vision to life, then translating that vision into a programmed, executable design.
What You'll Do
- Develop lighting design concepts based on the mood, genre, and creative direction of each show or event
- Create lighting plots, cue sheets, and design documentation ahead of each production
- Collaborate with artists, directors, and stage managers to align lighting with the overall creative vision
- Program lighting cues and sequences on the lighting console ahead of live performances
- Attend rehearsals and tech runs to refine and finalize cues
- Work closely with the lighting/production crew to ensure designs are executed correctly on show day
- Select and specify lighting fixtures, gels, and equipment needed for each production
- Stay within budget and equipment constraints while maximizing creative impact
- Keep up with lighting trends, technology, and techniques to bring fresh ideas to each show
- Collaborate with sound and stage design teams to ensure a cohesive production
What We're Looking For
- 2-4+ years of experience in lighting design (live music, theatre, or events preferred)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating creative and technically sound lighting designs
- Proficiency with lighting design/programming software and consoles (e.g. GrandMA, ETC Eos, Vectorworks, or similar)
- Solid understanding of color theory, composition, and how lighting shapes mood and storytelling
- Working knowledge of DMX, fixture types, and rigging basics
- Strong collaboration skills — comfortable translating an artist's or director's vision into a concrete design
- Ability to work under deadline pressure, including last-minute changes during tech and live shows
Nice to Have
- Experience designing for a range of genres or event types (concerts, theatre, corporate events, etc.)
- Familiarity with 3D visualization/pre-vis software
- Experience working alongside a lighting operator/crew on execution
