Category Manager

Salling Search is currently recruiting for a Category Manager for a leading ship management company. This role leads spare parts procurement with a strong focus on propulsion systems, offering the chance to shape category strategy for a diverse global fleet.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for spare parts focused on propulsion systems to support fleet operations
• Negotiate supplier contracts to secure quality products, cost efficiency, and timely delivery aligned with operational goals
• Collaborate with technical and finance teams to ensure procurement decisions meet operational and financial requirements
• Lead projects to optimise inventory levels and enhance supply chain efficiency across the spare parts category
• Ensure procurement activities comply with maritime standards such as IMO and SOLAS to maintain regulatory adherence
• Analyse market trends and supplier performance data to inform sourcing strategies and supplier selection
• Manage stakeholder relationships and resolve conflicts effectively across multiple internal and external parties

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in category management or strategic sourcing
• Maritime industry experience, especially with vessel owners or operators
• Engineering background enabling technical evaluation of spare parts
• Diploma or Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Logistics, or related field
• Strong leadership skills to align and motivate project teams
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to navigate market dynamics and build networks with an entrepreneurial mindset
• Fluent English communication and presentation skills
• Self-starter with ability to thrive in fast-paced environments
• Analytical and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
• Willingness to travel internationally at short notice and visit vessels, suppliers, and partners
• Availability via mobile outside office hours
