Staff Nurse (Oncology Clinic/5.5 days-alt Sat/ Up to $4.5k/Central)
About this job
- Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary clinic team to organise daily consultation schedules and support efficient day-to-day clinic operations.
- Prepare patients for medical consultations by performing blood collection, venepuncture, and coordinating the required laboratory tests and investigations.
- Monitor and retrieve laboratory and diagnostic results promptly to facilitate timely clinical review and minimise patient waiting times.
- Safely administer chemotherapy and other prescribed therapies in accordance with established clinical guidelines, protocols, and safety requirements.
- Dispense prescribed medications and provide patients with appropriate education and counselling based on the treatment plan.
- Observe patients throughout treatment, delivering nursing care, monitoring for adverse reactions, and offering emotional support and counselling when necessary.
- Arrange patient appointments, diagnostic investigations, specialist referrals, and follow-up care to ensure continuity of treatment.
- Monitor stock levels of medications, medical supplies, and consumables, and assist with inventory replenishment and procurement.
- Liaise with external service providers to coordinate preventive maintenance and servicing of medical equipment.
- Maintainaccurate and up-to-date nursing records while ensuring compliance withregulatory standards, documentation requirements, and infection preventionprotocols.
- Provide financial guidance to patients and caregivers by explaining estimated treatment costs, available payment options, Medisave claims, and insurance-related processes.
- Participate in an after-hours patient support roster, providing assistance via mobile phone as required.
- Assist with administrative and operational responsibilities to support the smooth functioning of the clinic.
- Carry out additional duties and responsibilities assigned by the Doctor or Nurse Manager.
Requirements:
- Registered with SNB
- Strong cannulation and phlebotomy skills
