Mechanical Design Manager

Job description

The Mechanical & Electrical Design Manager will lead and oversee the mechanical design team for all cleanroom, process utility, and HVAC system project. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality design deliverables, meeting project schedules and budgets, mentoring team members and maintaining design standards.

Key Responsibility.

1. Manage a team of mechanical & elecrical engineers and designers working on cleanroom HVAC, process piping and associated utility system designs.
2. Participate in meetings to understand project scope, requirements and constrains.
3. Develop staffing plans and allocate resources across multiple concurrent projects.
4. Provide technical direction, oversight and through reviews of mechanical designs and calculations.
5. Ensure designs conform to applicable codes, standards and customer specifications.
6. Collaborate with other managers to integrate design efforts.
7. Implement quality control processes for mechanical design deliverables (drawings, models, calculations).
8. Mentor junior design staff through training, coaching and design reviews.
9. Establish and maintain departmental design standards, best practices and templates.
10. Support business development by participating in proposals and specs for prospective projects.
11. Interface with clients, vendors and construction teams as needed during execution.
12. Manage project design schedules and ensure on-time completion of deliverables.
13. Control design costs and meet project budget targets for mechanical scope.

Qualifications.

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering.
• Seven (7) plus years of Mechanical & Electrical Design experiences with at least 3 years managing a design team.
• Expertise in HVAC system design for controlled environments (labs, cleanrooms)
• Strong knowledge of process utility design (process dry system & process wet systems etc).
• Knowledge in 3D modeling using AutoCAD/Revit.
• Understanding of relevant codes, standards and regulations (ASHRAE, ISO,SS)
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Cooperation.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills- English, and/or Mandarin to effectively communicate with and/or Mandarin-speaking clients.
• Mobility (As when needed).
