Our client is a well-established technology organisation operating in a complex, high-availability infrastructure environment. They are seeking a skilled

OpenStack Platform Engineer

to join their cloud infrastructure team, responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining reliable and scalable cloud platforms. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong engineer to work at the intersection of cloud infrastructure and emerging AI-driven operations, contributing meaningfully to platform modernisation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Red Hat OpenStack-based cloud infrastructure solutions that are secure, scalable, and highly available
  
• Develop and optimise automation scripts and workflows for the deployment and ongoing management of OpenStack environments
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate OpenStack with container orchestration platforms, including Kubernetes and OpenShift
  
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues spanning OpenStack components and underlying infrastructure layers, conducting thorough root cause analyses
  
• Implement security best practices and ensure platform compliance with organisational and regulatory policies

• Drive capacity planning, performance optimisation, and scalability initiatives across OpenStack environments, including change management for upgrades, hotfixes, and system administration tasks
  
• Explore and implement Agentic AI and AIOps solutions to enhance cloud administration, monitoring, incident analysis, and automated remediation
  
• Develop and integrate AI agents with OpenStack APIs and automation tooling to streamline infrastructure operations, and author or update system documentation and operational playbooks
  

Requirements

• A relevant university degree with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure engineering
  
• Proven expertise in Red Hat or equivalent OpenStack platforms, along with strong Red Hat Linux administration skills; relevant Red Hat or OpenStack certifications (are a bonus)
  
• Demonstrated proficiency with Kubernetes, and experience with infrastructure provisioning in VMware ESX environments and monitoring tools such as Prometheus (experience with Elastic Stack integration is a bonus)
  
• Familiarity with Generative AI, LLMs, and AIOps concepts applied to infrastructure operations; experience integrating AI or LLM capabilities with APIs, Python, Ansible, or Terraform (is a bonus)
  
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and application development lifecycles as they relate to platform engineering (is a bonus)

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a demonstrated capacity to lead and mentor in technical environments
