Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement Safety Management System - Establish and maintain the company’s WSH policies and procedures. Ensure all work activities comply with safety regulations and company requirements.
Conduct Risk Assessments - Identify workplace hazards and unsafe practices. Recommend control measures to minimize risks.
Ensure Compliance with WSH Regulations- Ensure compliance with requirements under the Workplace Safety and Health Council and MOM regulations. Liaise with government authorities during inspections or audits.
Conduct Safety Inspections and Audits - Carry out regular site inspections. Investigate unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
Incident Investigation - Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses. Prepare reports and recommend preventive measures.
Safety Training and Toolbox Meetings - Organize WSH training programs for workers and staff. Conduct toolbox meetings and safety briefings.
Monitor Permit-to-Work (PTW) System - Ensure high-risk works such as hot works, confined space works, lifting operations, and work-at-height activities are properly controlled.
Emergency Preparedness - Develop emergency response plans. Conduct fire drills and emergency exercises.
Maintain Safety Records - Keep records of inspections, incidents, training, permits, and corrective actions.
Promote Safety Culture - Encourage workers and subcontractors to follow safe work procedures. Improve safety awareness across the organization.
Requirements:
- Degree/Diploma in WSH related disciplinary
- At least 8 years' relevant experience in safety, preferably in the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of workplace safety regulations (e.g., MOM standards)
- Risk management expertise (identifying hazards, assessing risk, and creating mitigation plans)
- Excellent communication skills (with both internal staff and external stakeholders)
- Ability to lead safety audits and investigations into incidents
- Training and mentoring skills to foster a safety-first culture within the workforce
- Leadership and teamwork capabilities to manage multi-departmental EHS functions
