Job Description
The Assistant Manager, Vocational Training & Employment Support will oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of vocational training and employment programmes for neurodiverse adults.
The role involves working closely with learners, families, trainers, employers, community partners and internal teams to identify individual strengths, develop employment readiness, facilitate workplace exposure and support successful employment and retention.
The successful candidate should be passionate about inclusive employment and able to translate individual abilities and interests into practical vocational and employment opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Employment & Vocational Development
- Develop and manage vocational training and employment programmes for neurodiverse adults.
- Assess individual strengths, skills and interests to develop suitable employment pathways.
- Develop pathways from training and workplace readiness to job placement and retention.
- Match individuals to suitable job roles and provide appropriate workplace support.
Employer & Partnership Development
- Build relationships with employers, industry partners, training providers and community organisations.
- Develop opportunities for internships, job-shadowing, workplace exposure and employment.
- Facilitate interviews, work trials and job placements.
- Promote workplace inclusion and support employers in understanding neurodiversity.
Workplace Support & Coaching
- Oversee workplace coaching and employment support.
- Support individuals in adapting to workplace expectations and resolving workplace challenges.
- Monitor employment progress, retention and workplace independence.
- Work with job coaches, trainers, families and employers to provide effective support.
Training & Staff Development
- Develop vocational and workplace-readiness training materials.
- Train and mentor employment coaches and vocational trainers.
- Guide staff in delivering consistent and individualised employment support.
Programme & Outcome Management
- Monitor programme outcomes including training, placements, employment retention and workplace independence.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on programme progress.
- Use outcomes and feedback to continuously improve programmes.
Family & Caregiver Engagement
- Work with families and caregivers to support individual employment goals.
- Provide guidance on employment pathways, workplace expectations and progress.
- Encourage greater independence and meaningful participation in the workforce.
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related fields.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in vocational training, employment services, disability services, special education or career development.
- Experience working with persons with disabilities or neurodiverse individuals is preferred.
- Strong employer engagement, communication, coaching and programme management skills.
- Passionate about inclusive employment and creating meaningful opportunities for neurodiverse adults.
