We are seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer with 6+ years of hands-on software development experience to design, build, and support high-throughput, mission-critical digital banking applications for DBS Bank. The candidate will be key to architecting microservices ecosystems, building distributed backend services, and securing high-volume transactional systems using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native frameworks. Prior development experience in a retail, corporate, or FinTech banking domain is strictly required.
Key Responsibilities
Microservices Development: Architect, build, and deploy resilient, loosely coupled backend microservices using Java (11/17) and Spring Boot.
API Integration: Design and implement RESTful APIs, SOAP web services, and API Gateways for seamless integration with DBS core banking systems and third-party financial services.
Event-Driven Architecture: Implement event streams, asynchronous processing, and message queues using Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or IBM MQ.
Data Persistence & Security: Manage data models across relational (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) databases using JPA/Hibernate, maintaining strict encryption at rest and in transit.
Banking Security Compliance: Integrate Spring Security, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and mTLS protocols to comply with MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore) and bank threat-mitigation standards.
Performance Tuning & Debugging: Perform thread analysis, memory leak fixes, DB query optimization, and latency tuning using tools like Apache JMeter and APM monitors.
CI/CD & DevOps Automation: Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum squad setup to run continuous integration/delivery pipelines using Git, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Maven/Gradle, SonarQube, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Mandatory Experience & Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 6+ years in enterprise-level Java backend software development.
Domain Expertise: Must have prior hands-on experience in Banking or Financial Services (BFSI), working on domain features such as payment gateways, core banking, trade finance, credit cards, or digital transfers.
Core Tech Stack: Advanced proficiency in Java (8/11/17), Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security, and JPA / Hibernate.
Architecture: Strong hands-on experience with Microservices Architecture, Design Patterns, RESTful API design, and distributed systems design.
Databases: Solid knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, MariaDB, PostgreSQL) alongside NoSQL solutions (Redis, MongoDB).
Messaging & Async: Practical experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or JMS for real-time messaging.
Testing: Proficiency in unit, integration, and performance testing using JUnit, Mockito, and JMeter.
