CHIEF COOK
About this job
We are looking for an experienced Chief Cook with strong knowledge of both South Indian and North Indian cuisine. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily kitchen operations, preparing high-quality meals, and maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of South Indian and North Indian dishes according to the required menu and standards.
- Plan and organize daily food preparation and cooking activities.
- Supervise and guide kitchen assistants and other kitchen staff.
- Ensure food is prepared with consistent taste, quality, and presentation.
- Maintain proper portion control and minimize food wastage.
- Monitor food ingredients, kitchen supplies, and stock levels.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and preparation of food.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, cooking equipment, and work areas.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and workplace safety requirements.
- Manage kitchen operations efficiently during busy periods.
- Perform other cooking and kitchen-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Must have proven experience as a Chief Cook, Head Cook, or Senior Cook.
- Must have strong knowledge and practical experience in both South Indian and North Indian cuisine.
- Able to prepare a wide variety of traditional Indian dishes, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.
- Good knowledge of Indian spices, ingredients, cooking techniques, and food preparation methods.
- Physically fit and willing to perform heavy work, including lifting and carrying heavy food supplies, cooking ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
- Willing to work on weekends and public holidays when required.
- Able to work long hours and in a fast-paced, hot, and physically demanding kitchen environment.
- Able to work independently and lead kitchen staff effectively.
- Good teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
- Responsible, reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
- Must maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety.
