Role:
The R&D Mechanical Engineer supports mechanical design and product development activities under the guidance of senior engineers, following established development processes and engineering practices.
The role contributes to mechanical solutions that meet product requirements for functionality, manufacturability, cost, robustness, and quality. The engineer also supports product sustaining, documentation, testing, continuous improvement, and innovation activities while collaborating with local and global teams.
Responsibilities:
· Support the conceptualization, design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and assemblies in accordance with ASMPT Product Lifecycle Management(PLM) processes.
· Work closely with senior engineers on assigned mechanical design projects and complete deliverables at the respective project milestones.
· Review and clarify product requirements with Product Managers and relevant stakeholders at the start of development activities.
· Develop mechanical designs that meet functionality, manufacturability, cost, robustness, and quality expectations.
· Participate in design reviews and incorporate agreed actions and improvements into the design.
· Participate in prototype assembly, first article builds, module testing, system integration, and product qualification activities.
· Support sustaining engineering for released products, including Engineering Change Requests (ECR), Design-to-Cost (DTC)initiatives, optimization, and lifecycle support.
· Prepare and maintain complete and accurate engineering documentation in accordance with ASMPT development and PLM requirements.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Project Management, Product Management, NPI, Production, Quality, Sourcing, Service, and Operations, to achieve common project objectives.
· Manage assigned priorities proactively and complete project tasks and deliverables on time.
· Contribute innovative and cost-effective ideas, technologies, tools, and process improvements that enhance product performance and team productivity.
· Support intellectual property activities by identifying and submitting suitable invention ideas for review.
· Comply with applicable regulations, standards, company policies, and professional engineering practices.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
· Relevant higher educational or professional qualifications may also be considered.
· At least 1year of relevant experience in automation equipment, machine design, mechanical design, or a related engineering field is preferred; fresh graduates may also be considered for junior positions.
· Knowledge of the SMT and PCBA industries and associated processes is preferred.
· Knowledge of machine design, mechanical systems, and automation equipment is advantageous.
· Proficiency in 3D CAD tools, preferably Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
· Proficiency in Product Lifecycle Management systems, preferably Teamcenter.
· Knowledge of simulation and analysis tools such as ANSYS or NASTRAN is advantageous.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve engineering challenges.
· A positive mindset, willingness to learn, and readiness to accept challenges.
· An innovative and creative mindset with the ability to think beyond conventional solutions.
· A collaborative, team-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional and global teams while keeping abreast of relevant mechanical engineering technologies and trends.
