Job Summary

The Clinic Assistant supports the daily operations of the eye clinic by assisting ophthalmologists and optometrists, preparing patients for examinations, maintaining clinical equipment, and ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Assistance

  • Greet and guide patients through clinic procedures
  • Prepare patients for eye examinations and treatments
  • Assist doctors during consultations and minor procedures
  • Perform basic pre-test procedures – Vision eye test etc
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety at all times

Clinical Support

  • Clean, prepare, and maintain ophthalmic instruments and examination rooms
  • Sterilize equipment according to clinic protocols
  • Assist with administering eye drops under supervision
  • Monitor and restock medical supplies- Stock Inventory

Administrative Duties

  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
  • Handle billing, insurance forms, or payments if required
  • Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries

Patient Care Counsellor

  • Address patient concerns, fears, and questions with empathy
  • Assist with scheduling surgeries and follow-up appointments
  • Provide information regarding hospital stay, recovery time, and lifestyle adjustments
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate medical records
  • Support patients in understanding treatment costs, insurance, and payment options
  • Assist patients in their surgery pre-authorisation submission

General Duties

  • Follow clinic policies, hygiene standards, and safety regulations
  • Support the clinic team with daily operational tasks
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Min. GCE 'O' Level
  • Previous experience in a clinic or healthcare setting preferred
  • Basic knowledge of eye care or willingness to learn
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
