The Role
We are looking for a passionate and patient Coding Teaching Assistant to join our team at our Havelock Road centre. This part-time role is ideal for current students or recent graduates from Singapore universities and tertiary institutions.
You will support students aged 9 to 16 through hands-on coding projects using Scratch and Python, helping them build confidence, think critically and solve problems creatively.
Our classes are project-based and inquiry-driven, with students working on mini-projects suited to their proficiency levels. You will need to adapt your support to different learners, providing encouragement and guidance as they progress.
Responsibilities
- Assist with 90-minute Scratch and Python coding classes.
- Guide students through Code Ninja’s structured mini-projects at their own pace.
- Support small classes of up to six students, ensuring each child receives individual attention.
- Observe student progress and record relevant notes in the Code Ninja Passport system.
- Help create a fun, engaging and supportive learning environment.
- Communicate with parents about student progress when required.
- Participate in instructor training and professional development.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a diploma or degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python programming; familiarity with Scratch is an advantage.
- Patient, empathetic and able to connect with children aged 9 to 16.
- Strong communication skills in English and the ability to explain technical concepts simply.
- Comfortable with a small-group, project-based teaching approach.
- Reliable, punctual and able to commit to a regular class schedule.
- Prior teaching, tutoring, mentoring or enrichment experience is highly valued.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to commit to a regular Sunday schedule
What We Offer
- Work with an NIE-backed, Singapore-developed coding curriculum.
- Small class sizes with a maximum 1:6 ratio.
- Training and support from experienced instructors and curriculum developers.
