The Role
Provide nursing leadership under the general direction of the Director of Nursing or Deputy Director of Nursing, in the effective delivery of optimal clinical care. Apply nursing strategies and lead operational implementation of those strategies. Responsible for staff development and professional growth of nurses to deliver safe, competent and specialized patient care of the highest quality. Engage in systems-level thinking and its application to a variety of situations and contexts. Lead initiatives of Nursing in collaboration with the nursing team, other heads of departments, doctors, patients, families and external parties. Lead and coordinate the organization and is the executive representative for decision making purposes out of hours. Typically the role includes single-point accountability for a portfolio of critical operational importance.
Key Accountabilities
Effectively communicate the company vision, mission and values to the nurse population
Assess competency mix across organization out of hours and facilitate any allocation changes requested by Nurse Managers
Provide leadership in the recruitment, selection, development and retention of nurses with the nursing team
Lead, facilitate and promote patient's clinical safety and risk management practices amongst nursing staff, facilitate hospital occurrence reviews by promoting open reporting in examining clinical incident data. Lead critical incident debriefing
Conduct patient and staff rounds to promote and maintain healthy customer satisfaction levels
Lead and facilitate nursing and cross-functional committees and projects, ensuring there is robust Workplace Safety and Health culture within the team. Serve as an agent of change and innovation and drive service quality initiatives
Facilitate reviews on occurrence reports and ensure plans are implemented to prevent future occurrences
Monitor budget and expenditure to ensure efficient and effective use of consumables
Act as mentor, coach and counselor to Nurse Managers. Role model the desired leadership and team behaviors
Foster sound professional collaborative relationships with members of the clinical leadership / management team and the public
Qualifications & Experience
Masters in Healthcare Management or equivalent and recognised by the Singapore Nursing Board
Registered with Singapore Nursing Board is preferred
At least 6 years continuous experience in senior management / leadership position in healthcare setting
Experience in Manpower planning, Quality and Risk Management
