Production Technician

The Production Technician supports the technical and production requirements of Timbre Group venues, live performances, corporate events and other MCE activities.
This is a hands-on role suitable for someone with sufficient live production experience to independently manage routine venue setups, sound checks and show operations on-site, while reporting to the Production Supervisor or MCE Lead for overall direction, scheduling and technical escalation.
The Production Technician is responsible for ensuring that the assigned venue or event is properly set up, technically ready and smoothly operated during the assigned shift, while escalating significant technical or operational issues to the Production Supervisor or MCE Lead.
Core Responsibilities
1. Venue & Show Production
● Set up, operate and dismantle production equipment or daily gigs, events and program across Timbre Group venues.
● Independently prepare assigned venues for daily live performances and routine events.
● Ensure all required production systems are properly set up and operational before the commencement of each performance or event.
● Operate equipment including: • PA and audio systems
• Mixing consoles
• Microphones and wireless systems
• Stage monitors
• DI boxes and related audio equipment
• LED wall and display systems
• Song dedication system
• TikTok Live / livestream systems
• Other stage and production equipment where applicable
• Conduct sound checks with artistes and bands before performances.
● Manage routine change overs between artistes, bands and program segments.
2. On-Site Technical Operations
● Independently operate assigned production systems during live performances, events and program.
● Monitor sound quality and equipment performance throughout the event.
● Troubleshoot and resolve routine technical issues during performances and events.
● Escalate major technical faults, equipment failures or production issues to the Production Supervisor or MCE Lead.
● Ensure production requirements communicated by the MCE or Events team are properly implemented on-site.
3. Corporate & Special Events
● Support technical setup and operations for corporate events, private functions, activations and special program.
● Prepare equipment according to the production or event brief provided.
● Assist with sound checks, rehearsals, event setup and teardown.
● Liaise with artistes, event personnel and venue operations on routine on-site technical matters.
● Highlight any technical limitations or additional requirements to the Production Supervisor or MCE Lead.
4. Equipment Care & Maintenance
● Conduct routine checks and testing of production equipment before and after use.
● Ensure equipment is kept in good working condition.
● Identify and report faulty or damaged equipment promptly.
● Carry out basic troubleshooting and minor corrective actions where appropriate.
● Assist with equipment servicing, repairs or replacement arrangements as directed by the Production Supervisor.
● Ensure production equipment, cables and accessories are properly stored after use.
● Assist with regular equipment stock checks and inventory updates.
5. Stage & Production Area
● Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the stage, production booth, equipment storage and technical work areas.
● Ensure cables and equipment are safely positioned and do not create hazards to artistes, employees or guests.
● Ensure equipment is properly handled during setup, operation and teardown.
● Support load-in and load-out of production equipment where required.
6. Team Support
● Work closely with other sound engineers, production crew, artistes, venue operations and the MCE team.
● Support other Timbre Group venues or events whereproduction manpower is required.
● Provide technical support to Timbre Music Academy activities where required.
● Follow production schedules and deployment instructions issued by the Production Supervisor or MCE Lead.
● Provide clear handover of technical or equipment issues to the next crew member or supervisor.
7. Other Responsibilities
● Assist with installation, testing and upgrading ofproduction equipment and systems.
● Support special projects and MCE activities where technical assistance is required.
● Perform any other production or operational dutiesreasonably assigned by Management.
Requirements & Competencies
● Preferably 1–2 years of hands-on experience in livesound, events, AV or production operations.
● Able to independently handle routine live sound setup and show operations after venue familiarisation.
● Basic working knowledge of mixing consoles, microphones, monitors, PA systems and related production equipment.
● Able to conduct basic sound checks and troubleshoot common audio or equipment issues.
● Familiarity with LED walls, livestream systems and basic AV equipment will be advantageous.
● Responsible and comfortable working independently atan assigned venue.
● Able to recognise when an issue requires escalation rather than attempting unauthorised repairs or changes.
● Good communication and teamwork skills.
● Good time-management and organisational skills.
● Able to work under pressure during live performances and events.
● Physically able to assist with production equipment setup and teardown.
● 6-days week. Willing to work evenings, weekends and public holidays according to venue and event schedules.
