General Insurance Claims Executive / Claims Specialist

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day claims operations, including work processing, claims assessment, documentation, and follow-up activities.

  • Review and process General Insurance claims in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure adequate and timely claims reserving for active claims and maintain accurate claims records.

  • Manage claims within statutory and internal timelines, ensuring timely assessment, decisions, and communication.

  • Review claims investigated by insurance adjusters/loss adjusters and conduct further investigations on questionable or complex claims to determine policy coverage and liability.

  • Assess policy liability, claim validity, supporting documentation, and potential exposures before making recommendations or decisions.

  • Manage and coordinate third-party recoveries, including follow-up and documentation to maximise recovery opportunities.

  • Conduct annual reviews of claims files to validate reserves, identify inactive claims, and facilitate appropriate claim closures.

  • Monitor claims service providers and track KPI performance, service levels, and compliance with agreed requirements.

  • Maintain strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), internal controls, regulatory requirements, and claims governance standards.

  • Participate in claims meetings, internal/external audits, reviews, and investigations as required.

  • Maintain accurate and complete claims documentation and ensure all claim-related activities are properly recorded.

  • Provide advice and communicate effectively on complex claims matters with management and relevant stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, insurance adjusters, service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and effective claims resolution.

  • Perform other claims-related and operational duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Diploma, Degree, or relevant professional qualification.

  • 3–5 years of experience in General Insurance Claims, preferably with exposure to multiple classes of insurance.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of insurance claims processes, claims assessment, policy liability, reserving, recoveries, and claims administration.

  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Strong understanding of claims governance, regulatory compliance, SOPs, and audit requirements.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex claims matters clearly to stakeholders at all management levels.

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently while being an effective team player.

  • Adaptable, open-minded, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
