Join RWE Supply & Trading’s Asia-Pacific maritime trading team in Singapore as a Senior Commercial Analyst. You will work closely with the trading team to develop market views, identify trading opportunities and support commercial decision-making across dry bulk and related freight markets. Combining strong quantitative analysis with a deep understanding of freight markets, you will play an important role in developing the desk’s analytical capabilities and trading strategies. Develop market views on global freight, identifying key drivers, trends and trading opportunities.
- Build and enhance analytical models to forecast freight markets and support trading decisions.
- Partner with Freight Traders to develop strategies and identify optimisation opportunities that maximise P&L.
- Analyse physical and financial freight positions, including voyage economics and FFA exposures.
- Build relationships with owners, operators and brokers to develop market intelligence and commercial insight.
- Generate and communicate actionable trade ideas, analysis and recommendations to traders and senior stakeholders.
- Drive improvements in the desk’s analytical capabilities and support the development of junior analysts.
Job requirements and experience
- 10 years’ professional experience in freight market analysis, freight trading or shipping operations within a trading environment
- Degree in Economics, Shipping, Maritime Studies,Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong quantitative and Excel skills, and experiencebuilding economic models for freight pricing and optimisation
- Confident use of approved AI tools to support marketanalysis, with critical review of outputs
- Proven ability to explain commercial outcomes clearly,influence traders and work with risk, operations and legal stakeholders
- Commercial curiosity, decisive execution and resilience under tight deadlines
- Excellent collaboration skills: able to share knowledge, build trust across teams and help mentor more junior colleagues
Advantageous, but not essential
- Experience with Endur, Veson IMOS or similar ETRM/ship management systems
- Familiarity with FFA markets, shipping dynamics ordry-bulk chartering practices
