Our client is hiring for a Pastoral Care Specialist/School Counselor to be a dedicated point-of-contact for High Needs Students (HNS) to provide one-on-one mentoring and behavioral support. This role is responsible for on-ground student management, casework, and fostering a positive school environment. The incumbent will work closely with parents, teachers, and school leadership to implement interventions that promote student resilience, discipline, and academic engagement.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, School Hours
Job Responsibilities:
- Student Befriending & Mentoring One-on-One Support: Serve as a dedicated befriender and mentor to High Needs Students (HNS), including student management to support on-ground discipline.
- Case Management & Follow-up Case Management: Support in case management, including fact finding, engagement with students and parents, coordination of follow-ups and monitoring of student progress.
- Case Documentation: Maintain proper case reports for students whom the officer works with.
- Social-Emotional & Behavioural Support Motivational Talks: Plan and conduct motivational talks to inspire students and build resilience, drawing on personal experiences, where appropriate.
- Homework Care: Monitor and ensure completion of homework.
- Student Discipline: Assist in maintaining student discipline and positive behaviour during school events and daily school routines.
- Student Well-being & Engagement Physical Activity: Lead and facilitate simple, age-appropriate physical exercises or light physical activities with students to promote mental and physical well-being.
- Motivational Talks: Support students in developing resilience,confidence, and a positive attitude towards school.
- Parent and School Collaboration Parent Engagement: Engage students and parents as part of case management and follow-up.
- Student Support Coordination: Coordinate with relevant school personnel on student concerns, interventions and follow-up.
- School Programmes, Events & Administration School Events: Assist in maintaining student discipline and positive well-being during school events (e.g. Speech Day, Games Day, Level Camps) as and when required.
- Administrative Duties: Perform any other duties assigned by the relevant authority, including general administrative and office-related tasks.
Job Requirements:
- Preferably with prior experience working in a school environment.
- Minimum Diploma qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Education or a related discipline.
- Preferably with experience in youth work, student support, or social services.
- Basic first aid, crisis de-escalation or Mental Health First Aid certifications are strong advantages.
