Job Description
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the workplace is safe and free from hazards. This role involves monitoring and enforcing safety regulations, conducting safety inspections, providing safety training to staff, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards and laws. The Safety Coordinator plays a key role in promoting a safety culture within the organization by identifying risks, implementing safety measures, and responding to emergencies as required.
Job Responsibilities
· Support the Safety Officer in the development and implementation of workplace safety and health (WSH) policies and procedures
· Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with statutory requirements
· Organize and conduct safety training sessions for all levels of staff
· Investigate incidents and accidents to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures
· Maintain comprehensive records of safety audits, incidents, training, and compliance documents
· Collaborate with staff and management to drive continuous improvements in safety practices
· Perform risk assessments and implement practical mitigation strategies
· Develop, update, and coordinate emergency response plans and conduct drills
· Take the lead or assist in safety-related initiatives and projects
· Keep up-to-date with changes in WSH regulations, industry safety standards, and emerging trends
Job Requirements
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in workplace safety and health
Diploma in any field or equivalent qualification
WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health (Level B)
Valid Building Construction Supervisor Safety (BCSS) certificate
In-depth knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Health Act and statutory requirements
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage employees, management, and external agencies
Strong leadership capabilities to manage safety teams and promote safety accountability
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills to assess hazards and implement control measures
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
High level of dedication to safety excellence and continuous improvement
