Fast growing Singapore Headquartered company with regional presence. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a lawyer with strong M&A/JV experience and keen to take on other ancillary legal and compliance scope.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic legal and regulatory advice to senior management and key stakeholders, identifying potential risks and supporting informed business decisions across multiple jurisdictions. Oversee the preparation, review and negotiation of a broad range of commercial agreements, while establishing effective legal policies, processes, documentation and contract management practices. Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including data privacy, anti-bribery, anti-corruption and anti-money laundering requirements, and proactively identify and mitigate legal and compliance risks across the business.
Manage regulatory matters, compliance incidents, internal investigations and disputes, engaging external counsel and relevant authorities where required. Support corporate transactions and strategic initiatives through legal and regulatory due diligence, while providing guidance on corporate secretarial matters, board activities and other corporate exercises. Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide management with regular reporting on key legal, regulatory and compliance developments.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will hold a recognised law degree, with admission to the Singapore Bar or another common law jurisdiction viewed favourably, and bring at least seven years of relevant legal and/ compliance experience, preferably gained within a multinational, manufacturing or B2B environment or a law firm.
Prior experience leading or supervising a team, together with a strong grounding in commercial contracts, regulatory compliance and legal operations, is essential.
The role requires proven exposure to cross-border matters and the ability to work effectively with overseas entities and stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal proficiency in both English and Chinese is required to support regional activities and review bilingual documentation.
Candidates should also be comfortable leveraging technology, including contract management systems, virtual data rooms and other digital tools, to improve legal processes and efficiency.
A proactive, commercially astute and solutions-oriented approach, with the ability to deliver practical legal advice that supports business objectives and growth, is key.
