Contracts Manager

Role of Position
- A Contracts Manager oversees the preparation, negotiation, and management of contracts for construction projects, ensuring compliance with legal, financial, and organizational standards. They manage contractual risks, resolve disputes, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. The role involves collaborating with clients, contractors, and project teams to maintain strong relationships and ensure that contractual obligations are met effectively.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Contract Administration and Management
- Negotiate, develop contracts and ensure contracts are administered in accordance with legal obligations
Claims and VO Submission
- Implement strategies for timely payment of claims, improve claims processing workflows and reduce processing time and resolve any escalated issues or disputes related to claims. Settle final account with client and relevant parties.
Procurement Coordination and Policy Development
- Leads vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management, analyzes procurement data for cost-saving opportunities and risk reduction, and helps improve procurement policies and workflows.
Project Risk Management
- Develop and implement risk mitigation plans, including risk response strategies and contingency plans, to address identified risks effectively by conducting risk identification, assessment, and analysis processes to identify potential threats and opportunities.
Technical Writing
- Manages, reviews and prepares reports and proposals by gathering technical information, specifications, and requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Certification in Construction Law, Contracts Management, or equivalent is advantageous.
Approximate Years of Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in tendering, contracts management, or a similar role in the construction industry.
- Proven expertise in handling complex contracts and disputes.
Soft Skills (Leadership/Other Competencies)
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in contract management software and tools.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Functional Skills
- In-depth knowledge of tendering processes, procurement procedures, and construction contracts
- Strong understanding of cost estimation and value engineering principles.
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements in construction.
