Job Summary

Support the Head Chef in preparing and cooking Bangladesh Muslim dishes by handling ingredients, maintaining hygiene, managing stock, and ensuring food safety in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, chopping, marinating, and portioning meat, vegetables, and other food items to meet recipe standards
• Assist in cooking and assembling dishes during daily kitchen operations to ensure timely service
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness by sanitizing cooking equipment, utensils, workstations, and storage areas regularly
• Receive, inspect, and store food supplies properly to preserve quality and safety
• Monitor food freshness and apply FIFO stock rotation to minimize spoilage
• Control food portions to reduce wastage and support cost management
• Follow instructions from the Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, or Restaurant Manager to ensure smooth kitchen workflow
• Handle and dispose of food waste properly to maintain hygiene standards
• Comply with workplace safety, food hygiene, and company procedures consistently
• Perform additional kitchen duties as assigned by management

Required competencies and certifications

• Halal Certificate (required to comply with food preparation standards)

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Good knowledge of cooking Bangladesh cuisine
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
• Physical fitness to stand for long hours and work in a fast-paced kitchen
• Willingness to work long shifts, including weekends and public holidays
