We are looking for a world-class technical leader to own our engineering vision and take our products to the next level.

The Role

We are seeking an exceptional Chief Technology Officer — a true master of their craft across AI, operating systems, and open source software — to lead ByteFuture's technology strategy and engineering organization. This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned technologist to shape the architecture, culture, and long-term technical direction of a company building ambitious, deeply technical products at the OS and AI layer.

You will report directly to the CEO/founders and sit on the leadership team, translating company strategy into a coherent, executable technology roadmap while personally staying close to the hardest engineering problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own ByteFuture's overall technology strategy, architecture, and long-term technical roadmap across AI, operating systems, and infrastructure.
• Lead, scale, and mentor the engineering organization, hiring and developing top-tier engineering talent across AI, systems, and platform teams.
• Drive the design and evolution of our core operating system and platform architecture, ensuring performance, security, scalability, and reliability at every layer.
• Guide the integration of AI/ML capabilities into core products, staying ahead of the frontier of applied AI and large model infrastructure.
• Champion and steer our open source strategy — community engagement, licensing, contribution workflows, and open source project governance.
• Partner closely with product, design, and business leadership to translate company vision into technical execution.
• Establish engineering best practices, including code quality, CI/CD, security, and development velocity standards.
• Represent ByteFuture externally as a technical thought leader with the open source and developer community, partners, and investors.
• Evaluate build-vs-buy decisions, emerging technologies, and strategic technical partnerships.
• Manage technical risk, system reliability, and engineering budget/resourcing.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including significant experience in senior technical leadership roles (CTO, VP Engineering, Chief Architect, or equivalent).
• Deep, demonstrable expertise in at least two of the following domains, with working knowledge across all three: artificial intelligence / machine learning systems, operating systems (kernel, distributed systems, or platform-level engineering), and open source software development and community governance.
• Proven track record of architecting and shipping complex, large-scale software systems from the ground up.
• Experience building and leading high-performing engineering teams, including hiring, mentorship, and organizational design.
• Strong grasp of modern AI/LLM infrastructure, model deployment, and applied AI product development.
• Active contributor to, or maintainer of, open source projects strongly preferred; understanding of open source licensing and community dynamics.
• Excellent communication skills, able to operate comfortably with both deeply technical teams and non-technical stakeholders/investors.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment with high ownership and ambiguity.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree a plus, not required in lieu of equivalent experience).
• Based in or willing to relocate to Singapore.

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Prior experience building personal cloud, edge computing, or consumer OS products.
• Experience scaling engineering teams in a startup from early stage through growth.
• Track record of public speaking, technical writing, or open source community leadership.
• Fluency in English; Mandarin proficiency a plus given regional team and partner base.
