Job Summary
You will perform on-site installation, cabling, and maintenance of servers, switches, routers, firewalls, and related equipment at data centers and customer sites, supporting remote technical teams and ensuring accurate documentation and timely feedback.
Responsibilities
- Rack and un-rack servers, switches, routers, firewalls, and other equipment to prepare for deployment or maintenance
- Install and connect network devices, ensuring proper physical and network connections
- Perform structured cabling tasks including connecting, dressing, labeling, and link testing Ethernet cables, fiber optics, and patch cords at data centers, POP sites, and customer premises
- Provide Remote Hands support by rebooting equipment, plugging/unplugging cables, checking ports, replacing modules, and confirming equipment status under remote guidance
- Assist with on-site deployment of servers, GPU servers, and network equipment, including installation, network connection, and basic operational checks
- Conduct daily inspections of equipment and environment at data centers and POP sites, checking device status, indicator lights, cable connections, and cabinet conditions
- Support remote technical teams with basic troubleshooting and promptly report on-site equipment status, including photos and relevant information
- Deliver on-site technical support to customers as required, supporting project implementation and maintenance across Singapore, Malaysia, and other regions
- Maintain and update accurate records of equipment, cabling, ports, and on-site implementation details
- Communicate effectively in English and Mandarin to coordinate with stakeholders and remote teams
- Travel frequently between Singapore and Malaysia to provide on-site technical support aligned with project needs
- Demonstrate responsibility, attention to detail, strong execution, communication skills, and teamwork
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Background in computer science, information technology, networking, telecommunications, or related technical fields
- Prior on-site work experience in data centers, IDC, resident machine-room support, structured cabling, or IT field support
- Hands-on experience with racking/un-racking servers, switches, routers, and data center on-site implementation
- Basic structured cabling skills and familiarity with Ethernet cabling, fiber optics, patch cords, and optical modules
- Basic understanding of switches, routers, firewalls, and servers functions (advanced network configuration not required)
- Basic networking knowledge including TCP/IP, IP addresses, gateways, and Ping for simple connectivity checks with remote engineers
- Basic Linux knowledge or familiarity with common commands to perform checks and operations under remote guidance
- Ability to independently complete equipment racking/un-racking, cabling, cable dressing, cable adjustments, and module/equipment replacement
