Assistant Chef

Job Summary

Assist the Head Chef/Cook in preparing and cooking food following Bangladesh recipes and standards, maintaining kitchen hygiene, managing food supplies, and supporting daily kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, chopping, marinating, and portioning meat, vegetables, and other food items to meet recipe standards
• Assist in cooking and assembling dishes during daily kitchen operations to ensure timely service
• Maintain hygienic food preparation practices to comply with food safety requirements
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, workstations, and storage areas to uphold kitchen cleanliness
• Receive, inspect, and store food supplies properly to ensure quality and freshness
• Monitor and assist with food portion control to reduce food wastage
• Follow instructions from the Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, or Restaurant Manager to support kitchen workflow
• Handle and dispose of food waste properly to maintain kitchen hygiene
• Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by management to support overall operations
• Work independently and collaboratively within the kitchen team to meet operational demands
• Maintain physical stamina to stand for long hours and work extended shifts, including weekends and public holidays

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Knowledge of Bangladesh cuisine to support authentic food preparation
• Familiarity with food preparation and cooking techniques relevant to the role
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Responsible, hardworking, and eager to learn new skills
