About this job

We are seeking an accomplished Business Controller to join our dynamic organisation, reporting directly to the Chief Business Controller. This pivotal role is designed for a strategic finance leader who will partner closely with shareholders and C-suite executives to drive the achievement of group-wide objectives, policies, and transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping and executing corporate strategy, optimizing financial and operational performance, value creation in assets restructuring, and ensuring robust governance across the group’s diverse business units.

As a key business partner, you will collaborate with senior management to deliver shareholder outcomes, lead transformation projects, and implement best-in-class financial planning, analytics, and systems. You will also play a central role in tax strategy, treasury management, corporate restructuring, and the adoption of advanced technologies - including AI and automation - in finance. This is a high-impact position offering significant scope for professional growth, cross-border exposure, and the opportunity to influence the future trajectory of a leading group enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Business Partnership:
Act as a trusted advisor to shareholders, the Chief Business Controller, and C-suite executives. Drive alignment of group objectives, policies, and strategic plans across business units. Provide actionable insights and challenge assumptions to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Financial Planning & Modelling:
Lead the development of advanced financial models, scenario analyses, and rolling forecasts. Integrate AI and machine learning tools to enhance forecasting accuracy and support strategic planning.
  • Analytics, Reporting & Performance Measurement:
Oversee the design and implementation of group-wide analytics, dashboards, and KPI frameworks. Deliver timely, accurate, and actionable management reports to stakeholders.
  • Finance Systems & Reporting Implementation:
Spearhead the selection, deployment, and optimization of reporting systems. Drive automation and digital transformation initiatives to streamline financial processes and reporting cycles.
  • Transformation Project Management:
Lead and manage complex transformation projects, including finance function redesign, process optimization, and change management. Apply best practices in project governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Tax Strategy & Cross-Border Taxation:
Develop and implement tax-efficient structures for the group, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations. Collaborate with external advisors on transfer pricing, tax planning, and regulatory changes.
  • Treasury & Cash Flow Management:
Oversee group treasury operations, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, banking relationships, and working capital optimization.
  • Corporate Restructuring, M&A & Integration:
Support and lead corporate restructuring and post-merger integration activities. Conduct due diligence, financial modelling, and synergy assessments.
  • Internal Controls, Compliance & Governance:
Design, implement, and monitor robust internal control frameworks to ensure financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Collaboration with Advisory Firms:
Manage relationships with advisory firms (Big Four, legal, tax, and strategy consultants), financial institutions, and regulatory bodies. Leverage external expertise to support transformation, compliance, and strategic initiatives.
  • Performance Excellence & Continuous Improvement:
Champion a culture of performance excellence, continuous improvement, and SOP optimization across finance and business operations.
  • Training, Workshop Facilitation & Knowledge Transfer:
Design and deliver workshops, training sessions, and knowledge transfer programs to upskill finance and business teams. Foster a learning mindset and support organizational change initiatives.
  • Leadership & Team Development:
Mentor and develop high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture. Build a pipeline of future finance leaders and drive cross-functional engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (required)
  • Master’s degree (MBA, MSc in Finance, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • CPA, CA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA, or equivalent recognized by Singapore authorities (preferred).
